A Hooters restaurant in Pelham, Alabama is facing a lawsuit in the death of a Georgia teen as they allegedly illegally sold him alcohol.
The lawsuit was filed by the family of 18 year old Ryan Joseph Rohr, who died May 25 having left the restaurant drunk and being struck by a vehicle along Cahaba Valley Road (Alabama 119).
The lawsuit alleges that Rohr purchased and was served spirituous liquors while dining at the restaurant, and was not asked to show identification to prove he was over 21. He was with another three young males, one of whom was also under 21.
The group ate and had several alcoholic drinks and then left the Hooters restaurant to go back to their hotel on the other side of the street which was when Rohr, who was working in Alabama on a construction project, was hit and tossed around thirty feet down the street.
The lawsuit has been brought under the Alabama Dram Shop Act which is for those injured as a result of intoxication and it seeks an unknown amount of punitive damages from Hooters
